Photochrome dilutions consist of a low acid aqueous dispersion of silver and cuprous salts in an organic polymer system. These dilutions achieve a minimum durability of 6 months under normal conditions in locked vessels.

: Fields of application
Coating of glass or plastics - e.g. biaxial PET in composite systems • laminated glass in flat glass systems • arborium • advertising industry - dark/bright effects

: Switching operation
The light yellowish colored transparent composite systems switch to a red-purple to brown coloring during sun exposure. This switching process from bright to dark performs very quickly.
: Switching durability
By bringing in an additional UV-protective layer within the glass or PET system in a model procedure a function duration up to 10 years was reached.

: Intallation in the glass system
In order to achieve a good switching capacity, it is necessary to carry out a coating of 240 g/m² to 300 g/m ² on glass matts or similar substrates. The viscosity of the dilution is adjusted to 25 cP and provides excellent layer qualities with curtain or slot caster.

The coating should be accomplished in dust free machineries at room temperature. The drying process of the layers with infrared emitters or in the weak air flow is effective. After the drying process the conditioning of the photochrome layer should be carried out with 35% to 40% rel. humidness at standard temperature.

This coated glass panels or a comparable documents are covered with an EVA- or PVB-film as well laminated with a further glass panel or a suitable film at 110°C to 125 °C.
